The TAD i-am™ promotes health and safety on construction sites in the United Kingdom by putting the control of plant equipment and plant vehicles safely in the hands of the site manager. It prevents just anybody using equipment, by only allowing a piece of machinery to only be turned on by an activated key card.

Installing the device and key card activation

The first step is to install the smart-card reader onto plant equipment that have minimum training requirements. It’s a small box that will be situated within easy access of the controller’s seat. Next, you can load the personalised contactless key cards with secure data regarding employee identification, training qualifications, scope and size limitations.

Activating the TAD i-am™ device

Any piece of plant equipment that has the iam device installed will be completely immobilised before activation. The operator must insert their personalised key card into the smart-card reader which will trigger a green light and start the machine if the training data is verified and detected on the key card. If a red light is displayed a consultation with the site manager is required.

Utilising the safety features

The TAD i-am™ comes pre-loaded with safety features that are in the best interests of your employees and plant vehicles. Removing the key card while the vehicle is in operation will result in 30 seconds of safe use before the machine is disabled. This also prevents the use of multiple pieces of plant equipment by one key card. An intelligent occupancy sensor also freezes the plant vehicle if the operator leaves the seat, until they sit down again.

Analysing equipment usage

Automatic reporting is a key benefit of the TAD i-am™ device, delivering information about performance and operational activity. Ultimately, this could save you money on costly hire and fuel fees.
